congrats to tamsin and markus

congrats to tamsin and markus

congratulations to markus and tamsin, who got married on our estate some weeks ago.
we are especially happy as the holden manz family is good friends with the couple and the friends and family invited,
who turned up from far-flung places to celebrate the bond between the young couple here in franschhoek.
the images say it all, it was a great success – luckily the weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony and
the restaurant looked stunning with the inventive set-up – also a big thank you to all the staff involved,
seeing the wedding as guests allowed us to appreciate the hard work of the estate team on the day.
let’s hope we have the young couple and their friends and family back for more fine wine in a perfect setting in the years to come.

best choice for weddings

franschhoek kitchen

we are the best choice for your wedding venue as confirmed by ernst and christine – again congrats from the holden manz team to the young couple!

ernst and christine decided to “split” their wedding day in two. the lovely couple started their big day with a laid-back picnic between the beautiful franschhoek vineyards along the franschhoek river amongst ancient trees. they then said their vows, and celebrated their union with a glamourous old world party in our franschhoek kitchen restaurant adjacent to the holden manz winery – nestled amidst the vines of our award winning wines.

‘we both rebel a bit against the norm; i.e. the way people do things just because that’s “how it’s done”. as a result our wedding was completely unlike any traditional south african wedding. we simply did whatever we wanted to reflect the freedom, joy, passion and vibe we as couple experience.’
‘firstly we had a lively, quirky but romantic picnic over lunchtime. i wore a short wedding dress and he wore a short “suit” – even the groomsmen were wearing “short” outfits.
we all got dressed after the picnic, and then we had the ceremony underneath the trees next to the franschhoek river on the holden manz estate.
after that the festive, more formal, old world glamour party started. there were cocktails & photo-booth stands as entertainment, and later we had speeches, dancing, champagne, loads of pudding and crackers & cheese. people confirmed that the whole vibe was different and amazing!’

you can see many brilliant images and more on their special day on this blog:

chefs with green thumbs

chard at hm

at the franschhoek kitchen nothing will do but the best. this is why our chefs have decided to grow all our vegetables on the farm itself, in the orchard at the manor house and on the new vegetable garden in close vicinity to the restaurant and winery building. ranging from potatoes and onions to pumpkin and rainbow chard, the veggie beds are in constant change. new seeds have just been brought in for the winter veggie garden and plans for the chicken run are finalized this week. like this we can ensure that our guests receive only the best quality in the restaurant and at our markets! the holden manz wine farm is already selling the new produce at all our saturday farmers markets – the chefs and their kitchen staff are turning the veggies and fruits into some of the best jams and chutneys around! next farmer’s market is on the 28th of may – come along and see for yourself.
